Swatchity Absorbed by FlurbCo

Global powerhouse FlurbCo has finalized a deal to take over social media site Swatchity following the disappearance of its developers, founder, and board of directors. According to the company's representatives, FlurbCo had been considering a purchase of Swatchity for some time.

"It's kind of a funny story, actually," said Brenda Sporklet, FlurbCo's EVP of Mergers & Acquisitions. "We had scheduled a meeting that just happened to be the week they all disappeared. We arrived to find no one there. So, we sat down and negotiated a price with ourselves."

She wrote a number down on a piece of paper and passed it across the table. After rushing to the other side to accept the paper, she studied the number for some time before submitting her counter-offer. Satisfied that the price was fair, Sporklet shook hands with herself to seal the deal and sent the paperwork off for the lawyers to process.

As odd as it may seem, this isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened to FlurbCo, not by a long shot. According to Sporklet, this very same situation occurred no fewer than five times last year alone. Sporklet remains nonplussed about it all.

"When you've acquired as many companies as we have, you see things like this," she said. "In fact, when we showed up at the Swatchity offices to find it empty, I think I said something like, 'oh, yeah, this again.'"

For the few out there who somehow don't know, FlurbCo is a Fortune 500 company involved in dozens of industries in hundreds of countries. FlurbCo, as they say in their omnipresent advertising, is in the business of business. This gives them the strength and resources to develop (or buy) companies that bring to market world-changing innovations. Case in point, the company's virtual food subsidiary made a huge splash a few years ago with their Pizza as a Service (PaaS) offering that ushered in entirely new product categories that consumers didn't know they craved. Now augmented reality pizza is all anyone can talk about. Can FlurbCo do for color-based social media what it did for the non-nutritive NFT food niche? Time will tell.

Considering FlurbCo's history and reputation for innovation, they seem like a natural fit to purchase a company like Swatchity. Asked for comment, Sporklet seemed confused.

"Are they in tech? I had no idea," she said with a sigh. "We buy so many companies that it's realy not possible to keep proper track of them all. If I remember correctly, we just liked the logo and wanted to buy them."

A highly-trained squad of consultants from FlurbCo's operations team is scheduled to repel into the Swatchity offices in a few weeks. At that point, they will dive into the company's finances and, with any luck, determine what it is that Swatchity actually does.
